It’s has been an exciting couple of weeks of writing, recording, mixing and performing the new repertoire. The first reviews are in and they seem to get it: all the love and dedication (and did I mention nightly hours? ;)) that we put into this album. I hope you like it as much as I […]

Salsa, Sunsets & Smoking!

Summer 2012! First time in my life I spend summer at the beautiful baltic sea in Germany. A relaxing blend of middle-of-nowhere-lifestyle, Latin Music, mojitos and definitely the best sunsets in the northern hemisphere! Oh, and eh, did I mention that I started smoking again? You bet!! But this time it’s trout, salmon and halibut. […]

Kiev was not only the city of the final of the European football championchips but also the host of a beautiful world music festival: Kraina Mriy festival.
I performed there with Lilian Viera and her ‘Samba Soul band’.

It was a blast! Wonderful festival, great people and wow, what a band!

The Beatriz Aguiar in mexico

In may I had the honor to join Beatriz’ band on a trip to Mexico-City. We performed at the ‘Festival de Ollin Kan’. Beatriz is an Uruguayan singer who writes and sings her own songs based on south-american folclore rhythms. Please check out her new album ‘Nomade‘!

Cubop – otro mundo – Uruguay

It was only one show (for now) but boy it was a blast!

In january I was writing the arrangements for a new show with the Cubop City Big Band lead by Lucas van Merwijk.
In previous editions of the Otro Mundo-series the CCBB had interpreted music from Venezuela and Colombia.
This year it is Candombe, the beautiful music fom Uruguay.

Songs by Jaime Roos, Hugo Fattoroso, Banda OPA and others were the centerpiece of a concert in Theater de Kom in Nieuwegein featuring José Lopretti on bass, José Perez on percussion and the beautiful Beatriz Aguiar on vocals.

It was a memorable first show with hopefully many more to come.
